We are a friendly society of about 220 members.  Our season runs from September to June, with meetings held on the third Wednesday of each of those months.  A Member may bring a guest on three occasions during the lecture programme year. During the year, in addition to our programme of 10 lectures, which are covered by the membersahip fee, we offer Visits and Special Interest Events which are subject to an additional charge.  Visitors are most welcome, if space allows, and pay the same charge as members.

Members receive the THE ARTS SOCIETY REVIEW magazine, published in Spring Summer and Winter, and are kept updated by emails and mail.  

LECTURES Lectures are held on the third Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at 11:00.  Attendees gather from 10:20 when tea, coffee and biscuits are available.  Lectures usually finish by 12:15.  

SPECIAL INTEREST EVENTS We normally have two events per year. The morning is split into two or three sessions, each lasting about one hour. There is ample opportunity to ask questions and these events are generally great fun as well as being informative. A light lunch is usually provided.

VISITS During the programme year we arrange visits to places of interest such as country houses, exhibitions, galleries and museums.  Additionally, short holidays are sometimes arranged to places of cultural interest.

Apart from the educational aspects of the society, we also encourage and support participation in the arts by people of all ages.  The gift aid scheme, which refunds tax on members' subscriptions, helps to finance these activities, details of which can be found on the Community Arts page of the website.
